Mengikujti pendahulunya yaitu Motorola defy yang lebih dulu mengusung handphone smartphone android anti air dan dust proof, handphone sony ericsson xperia active ini pun mengusung kelebihan itu, tetapi spesifikasi yang diberikan lebih baik dibanding dengan Motorola defy tadi, karena Handphone xperia active ini memiliki processor yang lebih besar, dan OS awal yang 2 tingkat diatasnya (moto defy – 2.1/éclair, xperia active-2.3/Ginger Bread).
